VLife Sciences Technologies Pvt. Ltd. (VLife), a leading provider of technologies for computer aided drug and molecular discovery based in Pune, India, today announced signing of a contract with National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bengaluru, for developing a specialized modeling and simulation technology in the area of protein-protein interactions that would aid cutting edge research in computational molecular discovery. The project is undertaken jointly by NCBS, Stanford University and Technical University of Denmark.
This project involves studying coiled coil interactions in proteins which will provide opportunity to encounter and study hitherto uncharacterized myosins, key players in the dynamic organization of cellular components. With this project, VLife has reinforced its ability to flawlessly undertake highly sophisticated scientific computational work, which has made it a partner of choice of prestigious institutes across the world.
Professor R. Sowdhamini, NCBS, Bangalore, Principal Investigator and NCBS collaborator for this work, Professor J. Spudich, Department of Biochemistry at Stanford University and Professor H. Flyvbjerg , Department of Micro- and Nanotechnology at Technical University of Denmark shared similar thoughts when they stated that this collaboration will leverage VLife's core strengths in modeling and simulation technology development to provide a platform for studying and understanding some critical aspects of protein-protein interactions.
Supreet Deshpande, Director, VLife Sciences Technologies, said, “We are very pleased that our ability to transform complex scientific challenges into computational and software problems and to further use technology to address such challenges has been recognized by some of the finest and most demanding research institutes in India and abroad like NCBS and Stanford and Denmark Universities respectively. We are confident that this collaboration will significantly help in advancing molecular discovery research projects by providing deeper insights into protein-protein interactions.”
About National Centre for Biological Sciences:
The National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), a premier research institute located in Bengaluru, is part of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research. NCBS research interests range from the study of single molecules to ecology and evolution using experimental and computational approaches to the study of molecules, cells and organisms aiming to understand the fundamental biology at each of these levels to advance an integrated view of life processes. NCBS strongly fosters research collaborations with both industrial and academic partners at all levels.
